It is a useful aid to detect bleeding caused by a number of gastrointestinal disorders, e.g., diverticulitis, colitis, polyps, and colorectal cancer.
2.What does FOBT positive means?
If your FOBT results are positive, this means blood has been detected in your sample. About one in 14 people will have a positive FOBT result. Bleeding may be caused by a number of conditions, including polyps, haemorrhoids or inflammation, and may not necessarily be cancer related.
3.What are they testing for in FOB test?
A fecal occult blood test is commonly used as a screening test to help find colorectal cancer before you have symptoms. The test also has other uses. It may be done when there is concern about bleeding in the digestive tract from other conditions. In certain cases, the test is used to help find the cause of anemia.
